WDC FFA Fish and Wildlife team qualifies for state

Members of the Wadena-Deer Creek FFA Fish and Wildlife team qualified for state competition recently at the FFA Region II Fish and Wildlife Career Development Event (CDE) held at Central Lakes College, Brainerd.

Members of the Wadena-Deer Creek FFA Fish and Wildlife team qualified for state competition recently at the FFA Region II Fish and Wildlife Career Development Event (CDE) held at Central Lakes College, Brainerd.

Teams from 18 FFA chapters competed in identifying species of fish, wildlife, birds and insects. Besides identification, team members took a test on wildlife habitat and behavior.

Of the 18 teams, WDC placed fifth. Team members included Presley Sleyster, Abby Wegscheid, Mitch Janson and Ryan Grendahl. Grendahl placed eighth high individual as an eighth grader. Richard Muckala serves as FFA advisor.

The state Fish and Wildlife CDE will be held at the Minnesota State FFA Convention April 27-29 at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.
