Accompanied by the symphonic sounds of "Pomp and Circumstance" and the proud smiles of family members, kindergartners marched down the aisle of the Wadena Memorial Auditorium to commence Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary's annual kindergarten graduation.
The event honors these students who completed kindergarten and is the future class of 2027. Kindergarten teachers Deb Andrews, Mandy Gallant, Angie Moats, Alyssa Morlock and Shelley Steffens, along with music teacher Mary Ellenson, organized the graduation with 82 students donning caps and colorful T-shirts.
The May 26 ceremony included a presentation of certificates by Principal Louis Rutten, a slideshow featuring students and activities they've completed throughout the year, students singing several songs with a jungle theme and the kindergarten teachers performed a jazzy, motivational song called, "Go Be Awesome!" for the kindergarten students.
Also at the program, retiring Kindergarten teacher Deb Andrews was recognized for her 33 years of service, along with retiring Foster Grandparent Mardee Mohs who's served as a volunteer for 11 years.
