Raymond H. Schwartz, formerly of Wadena, celebrated his 100th birthday recently in California.
Schwartz was born Jan. 17, 1916 on a Bluffton farm. He married Catherine Rebischke on June 4, 1945 (also a local Wadena girl). They moved to Los Angeles, Calif. but Schwartz always remained a Wadena boy at heart.
He took his family on numerous trips to Wadena to visit family.
"My siblings all feel we have a little bit of country in us even though we grew up in Los Angeles," said his daughter Sheila Mergeanian.
Schwartz Donna Lee, Arlene (Paul), Emma (Alan) and Sheila. He also has several grandchildren: Eric, Shawn, Lisa, Sara, Alex, Dana, Adrienne, Sandra and Jacqueline.

His relatives, Marge Mohs Harrison and John Rebischke, still live in Wadena.
Schwartz had several relatives from Minnesota attend his 100th birthday. His birthday cake was decorated like a farm to reflect his upbringing that was such a part of who he was and still is ... a farm boy.
