Over 200 middle and high school students gathered for Minnesota Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America's (FCCLA) annual Regional Mid-Winter Meeting, Feb. 10 at Lake Park-Audubon High School.

Fifteen Wadena-Deer Creek chapter members attended the Region 6 Mid-Winter Meeting. Attendees gave presentations about projects they initiated targeting a variety of issues. Participants in Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events competed at region competitions statewide for an opportunity to advance to the State Leadership Conference in April.

To prepare for their leadership roles, the regional officers attended FCCLA state Leadership Training last July at Bethel College in Arden Hills. Attendees discovered their roles as an officer, learned about national programs, developed regional conference plans, and gained valuable leadership skills.

WDC FCCLA member Angela Torkkola is currently the Minnesota FCCLA Region 6 vice president. She will continue to work with the other officers in the region and FCCLA members to ignite youth leadership in the community.

The following WDC FCCLA chapter members competed in a variety of STAR Event categories and successfully advanced to state competition.
