Motorists traveling Highway 71 in Wadena may encounter delays while the road is closed between Highway 10 and Bryant Avenue after 8 a.m. Nov. 8. All lanes of Highway 71 will open by 7 p.m. the same day, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said in a news release. The closure is needed while crews repair the Highway 71 railroad crossing located just south of Highway 10 in Wadena. When complete, the project will improve safety and the road's ride, MnDOT said.

Three people were injured after a rollover crash in Otter Tail County. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the crash took place Friday morning around 3:37 a.m. A vehicle being driven by Karmvir Gill, 36, of Winnipeg was traveling eastbound on I-94. The vehicle entered the median near mile post 68, vaulted over the crossover and rolled. A 4-year-old passenger, Guneet Gill, and a 32-year-old passenger, Harmandeep Gill, were injured in the crash, along with the driver.
Leaf Mountain Township, MN (WDAY/WDAZ TV) - The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office reports finding the body of a missing 89-year-old man who was missing since Wednesday, September 28th. Authorities located Thomas Allstopp at 12:20 p.m. today. He was located in Leaf Mountain township about 2 miles from his cabin that he went missing from. His body was transported to Midwest Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The case remains under investigation.
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — A state grand jury has indicted a Fergus Falls man on first-degree premeditated murder for the death of his father in Fergus Falls earlier this year. The indictment, filed Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Otter Tail County District Court, is in addition to a second-degree murder charge against 29-year-old Dustin Michael Defiel, who is accused of fatally shooting his father Ricardo Defiel on June 1. An initial appearance on the new charge is scheduled for Friday.

A 39-year-old Wadena man is accused of making sexual advances toward a female juvenile under age 13. Jason Lee Bergeson, 39, was charged last week in Wadena County District Court with three felony criminal sexual conduct counts following a child protection report filed by Wadena County Human Services.
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- A 63-year-old former Perham trailer park landlord pleaded guilty Thursday in Otter Tail County District Court to an attempted murder charge for shooting a tenant in September.
ST. PAUL -- How attempts to legalize marijuana will proceed remained unclear early this week. House and Senate authors continued to oppose the other's bill after they discussed how to proceed. Both chambers overwhelmingly passed medical marijuana bills last week. Rep. Carly Melin, D-Hibbing, said that her goal is to get a bill passed so Minnesota patients can use the benefits of marijuana. The House passed a bill that would help fewer people and provides fewer places where marijuana could be picked up. Gov.
Ray Gildow, a longtime professional fishing guide in the Brainerd lakes area, will be Gov. Mark Dayton's guide in the 2014 Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener on May 10. Toby Kvalevog, also of the Brainerd area, will fish with Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon, Explore Minnesota Tourism officials said Friday. This will be Gildow's fourth opener where he's served as a guide but in all of the previous events he said he's hosted media anglers. A casual acquaintance of the governor, Gildow said, he served as Wadena County chair of Dayton's first U.S. Senate campaign. Dayton lost that race.
