Staples-Motley FFA wins big at State FFA Convention

As a team and individually, the students represented their school well.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Staples-Motley FFA was named the 2022 Premier Chapter Tuesday, April 26, during the annual Minnesota FFA Convention.
Eighteen chapters from Minnesota received gold rankings for their National Chapter Award applications. The Minnesota state finalists for the top ranking chapter were: Staples-Motley, Sleepy Eye and Chatfield. Staples-Motley FFA won the honor and was also honored earlier in the day with the Agricultural Literacy Award, supported by Minnesota Ag in the Classroom, according to a Minnesota FFA news release.
Individual students from Staples-Motley were also recognized.

  • Star in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resource Sciences: Colton Converse, Staples-Motley FFA
  • Grain Production – Cory Watland, Staples-Motley, sponsored by Corteva

Animal Systems Proficiency winners from Staples-Motley included:

  • Agriscience Research, Animal Systems – first place, Caden Mrazek, sponsored by the University of Minnesota Department of Animal Science; second place, Colton Converse; third place, Allison Olander.
