Emily Miron came up with 23 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks Friday in lifting Wadena-Deer Creek over Grand Rapids 61-45 in the Northwood Invitational.
Caitlin Volkmann dropped in four of WDC's five treys to finish the game with 15 tallies. Hope Theisen and Melissa Moenkedick were solid in supporting role as they combined for 18 points and 15 boards.
Kenzie Kane popped in 19 points for the Thunderhawks.
The Thunderhawks took advantage of WDC miscues to keep themselves in the game in the first half. The Wolverines went into the locker room leading by just three, 33-30.
The second half was a different story as the Wolverines played a stingy defensive game that limited Grand Rapids to just 15 points.

"The girls played well defensively in the second half," WDC Head Coach Keith Ferris said. "They knew who their scoring threats were and they took them away."
Miron and Volkmann were named to the all-tournament team.
