The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines dealt with a long-standing rival Friday night to earn a berth in the South Sub-Section 8AA championship match.
Playing their final match of the season on their new home court at WDC Elementary, the Wolverines kept their perfect record intact by topping the Perham Yellowjackets 25-16, 25-17, 25-15.
The victory gave the Wolverines a 28-0 record and propelled them into a Thursday match with the Fergus Falls Otters, 15-11.
"A lot of kids stepped up and I thought the whole team played well," WDC head coach Sue Volkmann sad.
Brittney Noon chalked up 12 kills and Courtney Volkmann dished out 32 assists to lead the Wolverines.

The Wolverines had strong night on defense. Volkmann and Hope Theisen both had a dozen digs while Avery Jackson contributed 11 and Caitlin Volkmann had 10.
Rachel Craig and Emily Miron both blocked 12 shots.

The top-seeded Wolverines eliminated Pequot Lakes in the first round of South Sub-Section 8AA action with a workmanlike 3-0 sweep of the Patriots.
Sue Volkmann's Wolverines gave a balanced effort with Courtney Volkmann dishing out 23 assists and combining with Hope Theisen for 19 digs. Avery Jackson had a great serving night with seven aces. Emily Miron, Brittney Noon and Rachel Craig combined for 20 kills.
Miron and Craig both had six blocks.
