Tom VanErp's Wolverines found an offense but an explosive Warroad club upstaged them when it counted most.

The Warriors racked up 19 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to rally past Wadena-Deer Creek 55-37 in a Sept. 11 game at Warroad.

Just one week after they struggled to find an offense in a 13-7 overtime loss to Park Rapids, the Wolverines put up their biggest scoring numbers since the 2005 season against the Warriors.

Kevin Tumberg was just nine of 25 passing the football with three interceptions, but the senior quarterback also threw for 150 yards and tossed three scoring aerials.

Tumberg found Taylor Bienusa on touchdown passes of 20 and 31 yards and flipped a one-yard TD pass to Aaron Kern, who also scored on a three-yard run. Jared Wegscheid put six on the board with his own three-yard carry.

The Warriors unrolled a monster offense in the game that included four touchdown runs by Adam Shaugabay and three by Aaron Storey. Shaugabay rolled of 335 yards while Storey logged 118 more.

The Warriors had 506 rushing yards and 619 total yards.

"Warroad wore us out in the fourth quarter with their big, fast running backs and quarterback," VanErp said. "Some mistakes gave them good field position and a couple of easy touchdowns."

Kern had 101 rushing yards on 20 carries while Bienusa grabbed three passes for 69 yards and Jordan Rentz collected four passes for 68 yards.

"Our offense put up some very balanced numbers for rushing and passing and that's good to see," VanErp said.

Bienusa also had a big night on defense with 12 solo stops and four assists. Isaiah Toedter was credited with seven assists and six solo tackles.

The Warriors committed a whopping 17 penalties for a loss of 131 yards.

The Wolverines will host Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in a 7 p.m. game Sept. 25.
