The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines chalked up their sixth straight unbeaten season against Mid-State Conference competition Monday night by sweeping Crosby-Ironton 25-5, 25-3, 25-12 at Crosby.
The four-time state qualifiers improved to 5-0 in conference play and 15-6 overall. The last time one of Sue Volkmann's WDC teams lost a conference game was Sept. 21, 2006, when they fell 3-1 to Detroit Lakes.
Caitlin Volkmann had 14 kills and 14 digs for the Wolverines. Halley Maas and Emily Miron both came up with 10 kills. Maas was also gold for the Wolverines at the serving line, where she scored eight aces. Heather Theisen led the club with 32 set assists.
The Class AA state-ranked Wolverines will compete in the eight-team Alexandria Tournament on Saturday, and will host Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Tuesday.
