The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines put 53 shots on goal to Worthington's 17 Friday night in a 7-1 victory at the Wadena Ice Arena.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 5-0 lead behind first period goals by Dylan Phillips, Austin Sutherland and Preston Warren and second period goals by Jarrett Pettit and Rylan Olson.

After Davis Moore iced Worthington's lone goal to end the WDC streak in the second period, the Wolverines put up a pair of third period goals by Jake Dykhoff and Zac Schertler.

WDC's Toby Wood stopped 16 shots.

The Wolverines improved to 10-9. The winless Trojans fell to 0-19.

Kyle Davis will take his WDC icemen to Detroit Lakes Thursday for a Mid-State Conference match.

Elijah Hansen put a short-handed goal between the pipes 7:49 into overtime Tuesday as the Blades rallied to nip the Wolverines on their home ice.

Max Phillips came up with another hat trick for the Wolverines and got scoring help from Mack Jones and Austin Sutherland. Dylan Phillips joined Sutherland in dishing out two assists.

Nolan Warme iced two goals for the Blades including the goal that tied the game with eight seconds remaining in regulation time.

The Wolverines were whistled for eight penalties finished the game with 32 penalty minutes. The Blades committed six penalties and were tagged with 16 penalty minutes.

The Blades gained revenge for an 5-1 loss to the Wolverines Dec. 1 and improved their season record to 6-7.

The Wolverines fell to 9-9.
