WDC boys to open sub-section cage action against Perham

Eighth-seeded Wadena-Deer Creek will open the South Sub-Section 8AA boys' basketball playoffs against top-seeded Perham Thursday in a 7 p.m. game at Perham.

Eighth-seeded Wadena-Deer Creek will open the South Sub-Section 8AA boys’ basketball playoffs against top-seeded Perham Thursday in a 7 p.m. game at Perham.

The Wolverines take a 6-20 mark into the playoffs. The Yellowjackets are 18-7.

Thursday’s other matchups will see fourth-seeded Hawley (14-10) hosting fifth-seeded Breckenridge (12-13), second-seeded Barnesville (19-5) hosting seventh-seeded Frazee (6-19) and tlhird-seeded Pelican Rapids (17-7) hosting sixth-seeded Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (7-16).

Sub-section semifinal and final action will be held at Concordia College in Moorhead March 1 and March 4. Semifinal games are set for 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. The finals will begin at 7:45 p.m.

The sub-section champions will play for the section title at 7 p.m. March 7 on the campus of Bemidji State University.

Crosby-Ironton (20-3) is seeded No. 1 in the north half of Section 8AA. Ranked behind the Rangers are East Grand Forks (16-9), Crookston (19-6), Park Rapids (15-10), Pequot Lakes (9-15), Roseau (11-14), and Bagley (8-18), Badger-Greenbush-Middle River (6-19) and Warroad (3-21).
