WDC, BHV wrestlers open team competition Tuesday

Ninth-seeded Wadena-Deer Creek will face eighth-seeded Prairie Valley Tuesday in the Section 6A team wrestling tournament. The two clubs will meet in a 6 p.m. match at Barnesville. The winner will advance to face top-seeded Barnesville. The Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders have been seeded No. 2 and will host the winner of seventh-seeded Pelican Rapids and 10th-seeded Breckenridge at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bertha. Fourth-seeded Border West will tangle with fifth-seeded New York Mills at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Graceville. Third-seeded West Central Area will wrestle sixth-seeded Staples Motley at 7 p.m. in Barrett. The four finalists advance to Pelican Rapids Saturday. Semifinals are set for 1 p.m. with finals at 3 p.m. The Section 6A winner advances to the Class A state team tournament Feb. 27 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
