The Henning Hornets had their volleyball season come to an end at the hands of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa at the Xcel Energy Center on Nov. 8 in the Class A Consolation Semifinals.
Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa erased a 2-1 deficit to comeback and stun the Hornets 26-24, 24-26, 18-25, 25-15 and 15-12. Britany Berge led the comeback for the Jaguars with 16 kills. Karsee Kampsen added 45 set assists for the Jaguars in the victory.
Megan Rinicker finished with 16 kills, while Serena Greenwood finished with 15 kills in the loss.
The Hornets put together an impressive run to get to the Class A Tournament. After dropping three straight games in the Perham Invitational, the Hornets rallied off eight straight wins, including a 3-1 victory over Wadena-Deer Creek in the Section 6A Championship. The Hornets dropped just one game during the playoffs, which was in the finals to Wadena-DC.
Henning finished the season with a 24-9 record overall and finished 13-1 against Section 6A opponents. Greenway eventually won the Class A Consolation Championship with a 3-0 victory over BBE. Minneota captured the 2019 Class A Championship with a win over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, who defeated Henning in the first round.
