School spirit on display for W-DC send off

The Wadena-Deer Creek high school hosted a send off celebration for the Wadena-DC volleyball team, who will be making their seventh appearance at the state volleyball tournament. The Wolverines earned the trip with a 3-1 victory over Underwood in the Section 6A Championship game.

The Wolverines open the tournament against Ada-Borup/Norman County West in the first round at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. Wadena-DC Activities Director Norm Gallant, volleyball captains Lila Lohmiller, Casey Volkmann, Ellie Miron and Katlyn Heaton addressed the crowd in attendance as did head coach Sue Volkmann.

 Groth is a Minnesota Newspaper Association award-winning Sports Editor of the Perham Focus and the Wadena Pioneer Journal. Groth worked in Grand Rapids as the Sports Director at KOZY/KMFY radio for two years and prior to that he was the Sports Editor/Writer for the Grand Rapids Herald-Review for seven years.
