The Verndale Pirates have been seeded second in the North Sub-Section 5A girls’ basketball tournament.
The Pirates will host the winner of seventh-seeded Nevis and 10th-seeded Northland in a 7 p.m. quarterfinal game Thursday, March 6.
In other north sub-section games March 6, top-seeded Browerville will host eighth-seeded Hill City or ninth-seeded Sebeka, fourth-seeded Parkers Prairie will host fifth-seeded Bertha-Hewitt and third-seeded Pine River-Backus will host sixth-seeded Menahga.
Sub-section semifinal games are set March 8 in Wadena at 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. with the sub-section finals slated for March 11 at 8 p.m. in Crosby-Ironton.
Isle tops the South Sub-Section 5A rankings with Upsala, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, East Central. Kimball, Royalton, Ogilvie, Swanville and Onamia rounding out the nine-team field.

The Section 5A championship game is slated for 7 p.m., March 14, at Crosby-Ironton.
