Victor Wastley and the Nevis Tigers used a 14-hit attack to eliminate Steve Riewer's Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Pirates 13-7 Thursday in the Section 6A baseball playoffs.
The Nevis leadoff hitter collected three hits in five plate appearances, scored twice and drove in three runs as the Tigers fought back from a 6-0 second inning deficit.
Gavin Becker, the No. 2 hitter in the Nevis order, went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored once. Court Chase and Brett Byer combined for four hits, three runs and two RBIs.
The Raiders also pounded out 14 hits but left nine of their runners aboard. Dillon Card was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Travis Eckel was 3-for-4. The two players combined for four runs and three RBIs. Ethan Korfe was 1-for-2 and drove in two runs.
The Tigers chased Patrick Riewer off the hill in the second inning when they erupted for seven runs. Korfe and Ethan Blaha also saw action on the mound for BHV.

Gavin Becker coughed up seven runs to the Raiders in the first two innings. Becker went on to co fire four straight shutout innings. The Tigers roared back with five runs in the fourth and a solo run in the sixth.
The Raiders ended their season with a 14-9 record.

Nick Kupfer collected a seventh inning double and came around to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Eagles tripped the Raiders Thursday in a Section 6A game.
After Kupfer's double, Adam Patron drew an intentional walk. Brandon Kupfer then reached on an error to load the bases. Four straight balls to Tyler Patron brought Nick Kupfer home with the winning run.
The Raiders stormed back in the top of the seventh to score four times and tie the game at 6-6. Travis Eckel singled to lead off the inning but was erased on a fielder's choice that put Mac Schluttner aboard. After Preston Riewer flied out, Dillon Card singled to load the sacks. Eric Blaha singled in a pair of runs and two more scored on a fielding error.
Johnson and Eric Blaha combined for four hits and five RBIs in the loss. Tyler Patron went 1-for-3 with three RBIs in the win.

Card pitched six frames for the Raiders surrendering six hits and two walks while striking out five.
Tyler Patron went 6 ⅔ innings for Mills but it was reliever Brandon Kupfer, who retired one BHV batter, who posted the win.

Dilon Card held the Raiders to five hits Tuesday as No. 4 Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale notched a win in North Sub-Section 6A baseball action in Verndale.
Card went the distance on the hill and finished the game with five strikeouts. The big right-hander did not allow an extra base hit and surrendered only two walks.
Fifth-seeded Lake Park-Audubon had a bad day in the field committing eight errors.
Preston Riewer had two hits in four trips, scored once and drove in a run for BHV. Ethan Korfe went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Tim Brekken and Mitchell Hall both accounted for two hits in the loss.
