A return to its home courts meant a return to the win column for the Wadena-Deer Creek girls tennis team when it picked up a 6-1 victory over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Upsala/Swanville on Sept. 19 in Wadena.

The Wolverines captured all four singles matches and claimed two of the three doubles matches on their way to the victory. The Wolverines won four of their six matches in quick fashion, taking care of business in straight sets.

Madison Packer dropped just two games on her way to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Zoe Johnson at No. 1 singles. Corra Endres returned to her familiar spot at No. 2 singles and dropped one game on her way to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Emily Press.

Libby Hartman went the distance at No. 3 singles but was able to pick up a victory over Julia Peterson. Hartman dropped the first set 2-6, but responded with a 6-3 win in the second. She captured the third set 10-2.

Genevieve Pinnella cruised at No. 4 singles, securing the sweep for Wadena-DC. She dropped just two games on her way to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cathleen Rieffer.

Kaylee Ova and Ashley Peterson earned a victory at No. 1 doubles when they went the distance against Maddie Becker and Alyssa Thelen. Ova and Peterson earned a 7-5, 4-6 and 10-5 victory.

Madelyn Gallant and Kayla Meeks rolled in straight sets at No. 3 doubles. Gallant and Meeks picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kaitlyn Cebulla and Kaitlin Welters.

Nevada Schulz and Katie Fiemeyer suffered a three-set defeat at No. 2 doubles when Tanya Hesse and Abbigail Larson picked up the 3-6, 6-2 and 2-10 victory.

The Wolverines are back home on Sept. 24 when they host Pequot Lakes at 4:30 p.m., before hosting Perham/New York Mills on Sept. 26 at 4:30 p.m.
