The Wadena-Deer Creek girls tennis team was hoping to run its streak to three straight when they traveled to Park Rapids Area to take on the Panthers on Sept. 3 in a dual meet.
The perennial section power knocked off Wadena-DC 5-2, snapping the Wolverines' winning streak at two straight. The Wolverines earned a pair of singles wins in the dual meet, but could not pick up any other points in the match.
Corra Endres picked up one of the two wins at No. 2 singles. Endres earned a straight set victory over Rachael Herman, 6-3, 6-2. The other win came from Genevieve Pinnella at No. 4 singles. Pinnella defeated Emily Schulz in three sets. Pinnella rallied after dropping the first set 0-6 to take the second set 7-6 (8) and cruised in the third set to a 6-2 win.
Park Rapids Area's Abby Morris defeated Madison Packer in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Cassidy Bera defeated Libby Hartman at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, Park Rapids Area's Jada Renneberg and Mickey Clark defeated Ashley Peterson and Kaylee Ova, 6-3, 6-3. Macy Goochey and Morgan Koppleman defeated Nevada Schulz and Katie Fiemeyer in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Taylor Dravis and Natalie Harvey earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Kayla Meeks and Madelyn Gallant at No. 3 doubles.
The Wolverines are back in action on Sept. 6 when they travel to Detroit Lakes for a triangular with the Lakers and Crookston, beginning at 1 p.m.
