Ten WDC athletes qualify for Section 6A meet

Five Wadena-Deer Creek girls and five boys qualified for the Section 6A track and field meet Thursday in Sub-Section 22 action at the WDC track complex.

Five Wadena-Deer Creek girls and five boys qualified for the Section 6A track and field meet Thursday in Sub-Section 22 action at the WDC track complex.

Danyel Post was a triple qualifier with a second place effort of 32-8.75 in the triple jump, a fourth place leap of 14-9 in the long jump and a fourth place time of 1:04.21 in the 400.

Autumn Jahnke won the pole vault with a winning 8-6 and Liz Peterson took third with a personal best 8-0 vault.

Peterson also qualified for the section in the 300 hurdles with a 53.23.

Hannah Vorderbruggen made the section cut in both the 1,600 and 3,200. The WDC distance runner turned the four laps of the 1,600 in a personal best time of 5:49.76 for fifth place. Her 12:52.87 gave her third in the 3,200.

Jessica Wood was runner-up in the discus with a 92 foot throw. Wood qualified fourth in the shot put with a 28-11.25.

Brody Wangsness won the 110 hurdles with a 15.55. The veteran hurdler was one of seven athletes to meet state standard of 46.11 in the 300 hurdles with a fourth-place time of 45.22.

Sutton Lohmiller took third in the shot put with a third place toss of 46-01.

Tommaso Caramelli qualified fourth in the 100 dash with a time of 11.59.
