The Park Rapids Area Panthers showcased why they are the state’s sixth ranked Class AA softball team with a 12-1 victory over Wadena-Deer Creek on April 25 in Wadena.

The Wolverines tried to give the Panthers a different look by throwing a different pitcher in each inning. However, the Panthers were able to adjust on their way to the mercy rule win.

Kylee Pachel had a big day at the dish for Park Rapids Area. She had four hits with a single, two doubles and a two-run home run. She drove in six runs for the Panthers. Riley Michaelson had two hits, including a solo home run in the win.

Michaelson earned the win on the mound for Park Rapids Area. She went the distance and allowed one run on three hits. She struck out four and walked one.

Mackenzie Carsten took the loss. She allowed two runs on three hits.

Nevada Schulz drove in the lone run when she singled home, Courtny Warren, who reached on an error.

Carsten, Myja Nemeth and Schulz had the lone hits for Wadena-Deer Creek in the loss to Park Rapids Area.

The Wolverines return to the diamond when they take on Perham at 4:30 p.m. on April 26 at Arvig Park in Perham.
