The Wadena Legion softball team became the first to punch their ticket to the Minnesota American Legion state softball tournament. Despite an 0-3 weekend, the Wadena girls are proud to be part of a historic season for girls sports in Minnesota.
After beating Swanville 9-7 and 10-6 last Monday, the Wadena Legion softball team punched its ticket to the first ever state tournament in Mankato this weekend.
Teams from Parkers Prairie and Howard Lake played the first-ever softball game under the American Legion umbrella in Minnesota on May 30, 2022. Minnesota becomes the sixth state in the country to have a softball league sanctioned by the American Legion. It's the start of a new opportunity that many players and coaches have wanted for a long time.

The Wolverines next play at Sebeka at 4 p.m. Monday, May 16.
WDC improves to 7-4 on the season and 5-4 in the PRC. BHV is now 8-2 on the season and 6-1 in the PRC. WDC is slated to play Staples/Motley at 4 p.m. and Lake Park Audubon at 6 p.m. on Thursday and LPGE at 2 p.m. on Friday, all at home.
The Wolverines next take on 7-0 Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale on Tuesday, May 10.

The W-DC softball team split their doubleheader with the Parkers Prairie Panthers on Thursday in, winning the first game 13-3 and falling in a wild back-and-forth game two 21-20.
With the losses, WDC drops to 4-2 and 3-2 in the Park Region Conference. WDC will host Parkers Prairie for a double header on Thursday before traveling to Perham for a key Section 8AA tilt at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
The Wolverines are scheduled to play again Friday, April 29, at Parkers Prairie in a key PRC match-up.
