Brian Thorstad scored three touchdowns and Hunter Johnson added a pair Friday night as the Osakis Silverstreaks thrashed Wadena-Deer Creek 42-18.
The Silverstreaks dominated the first quarter 28-0 and scored twice off short field situations.
"The reality is that they're a pretty good football team and we shot ourselves in the foot right away," WDC Head Coach Howie Kangas said. "The first quarter was kind of a disaster."
Thorstad cashed in on first quarter runs of 10, 9 and 7 yards for Osakis. Drew Fearing found the end zone on a 29-yard interception return.
Kangas saw his Wolverines come out and score the first 12 points of the second half. Evan VanErp scored on a pair of 1-yard plunges.

Johnson countered with two breakaway runs of 43 and 23 yards.
The Wolverines were short big fullback Jake Krause in the game, and Osakis Head Coach Bill Infanger felt his absence made a considerable difference.
"We expected him to be a big factor in the game, and he ended up not playing in the game," Infanger said.
Krause was bothered with an ankle sprain, but Kangas expected him to be ready for the Homecoming game with United North Central.
Evan VanErp had 106 yards on 19 carries. VanErp was 16 of 28 throwing the ball and completed six passes to his brother Andrew for 57 yards. Dylan Dumpprope was on the receiving end of four balls for 31 yards. Nick Carlson gained 42 yards with two catches.
Mike Paavola had seven solo stops and four assists on defense. Andrew VanErp recorded six solo tackles and four assists. Wyatt Weber combined two solo tackles with six assists.
Thorstad led the Silverstreaks on the ground with 128 yards on 17 carries. Johnson added 106 yards on 13 attempts.
Following their Homecoming game with United North Central, the Wolverines travel to Swanville Oct. 12 for a 7 p.m. game. They end the regular season Oct. 17, hosting Royalton.
