The Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers have it going all their own way as they head into the Hi-10 League playoffs.

The Shockers capped Randy Jahnke's final season as manager of the WDC club with their second straight Hi-10 championship and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. The Shockers will host the winner of Wednesday's Bluffton-Detroit Lakes playoff game Friday in a 7 p.m. game at County Stadium.

The Shockers emerged from their final weekend of regular season play with two wins and one loss. The WDC nine trounced Frazee 12-2 in a seven-inning game Friday. They bumped into something very hard Saturday and came out on the short end of a 13-5 game with Midway. A three-run rally in the eighth carried them to a 5-3 victory Sunday over the Dent Bulldogs.

The Shockers scored six times in the first inning against Frazee and got strong pitching from Jayme George, who blanked the Flames for six of the seven frames he threw.

Travis George paced the Shockers at the plate with three hits. Jamie Nordlund and Jordan Wohlwend each came up with a pair of hits.

Jake Lund hit a grand slam as Midway scored eight times in the second inning Saturday to hammer down the Shockers in a non-conference game. The Snurdbirds exploded for 17 hits with Zach Etter lacing four and Chris Boso, Brad Lusti and Kyle Dormanen collecting three.

Wohlwend came up with a pair of hits for WDC. Jahnke drove in two runs.

The Shockers battled back from a 9-0 deficit to trail by five after six innings. A three-run eighth iced the victory for Midway.

"After a rough couple of innings the Shockers settled in and made it a game," Jahnke said. "They scored too many early."

J.J. Truax was hung with the loss while Etter gained the win.

Jayme George and Jamie Nordlund came up with bases-loaded hits in the eighth as the Shockers rallied to beat Dent Sunday.

Travis George came up with three hits and Wohlwend added a pair as the Shockers.

Darin Stoll homered for the Bulldogs and collected two hits along with Ernie Kawlewski and Nick Stoll.

Wohlwend picked up the victory for the Shockers with a complete-game effort.

Jahnke was triumphant following Sunday's win.

"We feel we are like the Yankees, you either love us or hate us, but yet we are the best thing coming," Jahnke said.

Wohlwend or Travis George are expected to get the starting nod for Friday's game.
