U.S. Kids Golf sets 2022 tour dates and registration for lakes area

U.S. Kids Golf Fargo Summer Local Tour will tee off Sunday, May 22 in the lakes area, according to a news release from the group. Registration begins April 8 for tour dates in: Park Rapids, Wahpeton, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls and Alexandria, with the tour championship beginning Aug. 14 at Wildflower at Fair Hills Resort in Detroit Lakes.

Five tour dates were announced for the 2022 U.S. Kids Golf Fargo Summer Tour season with the tour championship to be held at Wildflower at Fair Hills Resort in Detroit Lakes on Aug. 14.

According to a news release, the tour is open to boys and girls between ages 5-18 and is an opportunity to gain golf experience through age-appropriate competition.

Registration for the tour begins April 8 and concludes about one week before each event.

The five tour dates are:

  • May 22 - Headwaters, Park Rapids
  • June 5 - Bois De Souix, Wahpeton
  • June 19 - Detroit Country Club, Detroit Lakes
  • July 10 - Pebble Lake, Fergus Falls
  • July 24, Geneva, Alexandria
  • Tour Championship: Aug. 14 - Wildflower at Fair Hills Resort, Detroit Lakes

The events feature 14 different age groups and yardages through the U.S. Kids Golf’s Longleaf Tee System , which provides guidelines for golf courses to help incorporate players of all levels.

According to the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation website, the system provides a way for "more players to enjoy playing golf while keeping the design, integrity and challenge of the layout intact."

The youth golfers are also encouraged to have a caddie at the events, the release stated, so golfers can play their best and "encourages family interaction that builds lasting memories."

During the tournaments, golfers will have the opportunity to also earn invitations to State Invitationals, Regional Championships, Teen Series Events, International Championships and the World Championships.

According to U.S. Kids Golf, their mission is "all about supporting the next generation of golf’s great players. Whether that means making clubs that fit your kid, certifying coaches who make learning the game more fun, scaling courses or providing entry level to advanced competition, U.S. Kids Golf is committed to supporting the future of the game."
