Trap shooting: Wadena-Deer Creek qualifies for state

The Wadena-Deer Creek trap shooting team took 31st place in Alexandria on June 17 to qualify for state in Prior Lake.

ALEXANDRIA – The Wadena-Deer Creek trap shooting team was one of 40 teams to qualify for state on June 17.

WDC was the 31st out of 40 teams to punch a ticket to the state championships in Prior Lake on July 1.

The varsity squad took seventh out of 32 teams with a score of 773. The junior varsity team took 22nd.

Carson Kern tied for sixth place with a score of 96. Ashley Lepinski took third in the girls division with a 95.

The regular-season awards were handed out in Alexandria as well. Kern was honored as the top boys varsity shooter. Lepinski took second for the girls. Ethan Lepinksi was the third-best boys shooter. Kern, Ethan Lepinski, Brett Reinke and Conrad Reinke all shot perfect rounds of 25 in Alexandria.
