Girls tennis: Wolverines go 2-1 at Park Rapids invite

The Wadena-Deer Creek girls tennis team went 2-1 at the Park Rapids Invitational on Saturday.

WADENA – The Wadena-Deer Creek girls tennis team went 2-1 in Park Rapids on Saturday with wins over Melrose and Morris Area-Chokio-Alberta-West Central Area.

After a 4-3 loss to Osakis, the Wolverines picked up a 4-3 win over MACA-WCA. WDC swept all three doubles matches. The teams of Katie and Libby Hartman, Anna Fiemeyer and Kaylee Endres and Kayla Meeks and Cadie Lindberg cruised to victories. Lily Adkins beat Izabel Hoffman 10-2 at No. 4 singles to secure the win for WDC.

The Wolverines picked up another win in a 7-0 sweep of Melrose. Charlie Snyder won a tiebreak at No. 4 singles, while the team of Kelanie Oldakowski and Meek also won in a tiebreaker. Genevieve Pinnella and Chloe Leeseberg won a narrow 10-8 match at No. 3 doubles over Abigail Welle and Camryn Roering.
