WADENA – The Wolverine girls ran into a brick wall when taking on the Pelican Rapids Vikings on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Despite a solid defensive effort, the Vikings took advantage of any open shot they could get on their way to a 54-29 win. It looks like the Vikings have a strong future as sophomore Ellie Welch stacked up 20 points including four three-point shots and eighth grader Morgan Korf added 17 points.

Addyson Gravelle led the Wolverine scoring with 11. Madison Packer was next with 5. One big plus for the Wolverines is that the charity stripe shooters, the Gravelle sister trio, didn’t miss a free throw. They were 8-for-8.

Pelican Rapids was up 22-12 at the half and despite added pressure and aggression from the Wolverines, the Vikings just couldn’t miss on through the second half.

The loss brings the Wolverines to an 8-5 overall record. They look to gain some steam when they head to New York Mills on Thursday, Jan. 27, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
