WADENA — There was no shortage of dance talent shared with a packed house at the Wadena-Deer Creek Middle-High School Saturday, Feb. 5, for the Section 4A dance event.
Among those skilled teams were the Wadena-Deer Creek Rhythmettes who kicked their way into an eighth place finish in both jazz and kick routines.
The placement marks the end of the season for the Rhythmettes. They'll next perform for the community during their review Saturday, March 19.
Coach Maddi Johnson said the team made some great strides towards improving this season. She noted that the jazz routine improved from an average score of 39 out of 100, to 45.
The team was just 4 rank points out of seventh place in this last event.
In kick, the team improved from an average of 43, to 50. Again, the team was just 4 points out of seventh place. Two judges ranked them in sixth place.
"The scores showed, this team and program are on the rise," Johnson said. "We’re building our legacy and reputation our way, and this slow and steady pace is working. The season couldn’t have gone better."
"We are fired up, and ready to continue our fight to the big leagues," Johnson added. "The girls want everyone to watch out, because next season is going to be one for the books. You won’t want to miss it!"
