BRANDON – The eighth-ranked Wadena-Deer Creek girls cross country team collected another first-place finish on Tuesday at the Ashby-Brandon-Evansville invite.
The Wolverines won it with a team score of 22. Britta Sweeney notched a third-place finish with a time of 20:42.4.
Amber Collins landed in the top five in 21:42.7 (5th). Lydia Oldakowski (21:58.6) and Brielle Kern (22:04.8) were right behind Collins in seventh and eighth.
Cambrie Geiger finished just outside the top 10. She finished 11th with a time of 22:52.1. Noelle Spicer (23:41.3, 14th) and Ally Pavek (23:52.4, 16th) also clocked in varsity times.
Bertha-Hewitt won the boys race with a team score of 27. Ottertail Central followed with 52 before WDC landed in third place at 70.

Lane Hoefs took sixth place with a time of 18:00.5. Phillip Ross claimed 10th in 18:36.3. Grant Nelson (19:32.2, 16th), Cooper Damlo (20:03.9, 17th) and Isaac Heppner (20:30.9, 21st) rounded out the top five WDC body runners. Trevin Kern also clocked a varsity time of 20:36.2 in 22nd.

Eagles finish third, sixth
The New York Mills cross country teams also competed in the Ashby-Brandon-Evansville invite last Tuesday.
The girls took third place with a team score of 71. Brielle Malone finished in ninth place with a time of 22:09.2.
Katherine Garcia (23:56.3, 17th), McKenzie Draves (24:47.1, 19th) Morgyn O’Dea (27:41.1, 24th) and Rosemary Laudenbach (27:44.7, 25th) all clocked in varsity times.
The boys took sixth place with a team score of 1:57. Simon Snyder paced the Eagles with a time of 21:03.7, which was good enough for 24th place.
Elijah Geiser took 27th with a time of 21:52.4. Austin Geiser (23:26.3, 35th), Aaron Tumberg (23:34.8, 36th) and Jeron Witt (26:19.9, 39th) rounded out the group.
