WADENA — With a busy night of playing sports in Wadena, the boys basketball team were all business on their way to a 90-43 win over Bagley on Thursday, Feb. 24.
The Wolverines set the tone early going up 61-18 in the first half. For the second half the second and third string of Wolverines maintained the lead with a more even 29-25 finish.
The entire Wolverine team hit the floor against the 0-22 Bagley squad, with 16 players adding to the score. Leading the Wolverines scoring was Peyton Church with 18. Josiah Kallevig had 11 and Isaac Hamann had 10. The WDC shooting percentage inched up as four players landed 100% of their shots.
WDC head coach Kevin Tumberg was pleased to get the win but felt the team could have done better in shutting down the winless Bagley team.
“Our boys came out firing tonight and made a lot of shots," Tumberg said. "We didn’t have our best effort on the defensive end, but we were able to get the win."
Bagley just couldn't hold off WDC as they gave up 23 turnovers. WDC stole the ball 18 times.
The Wolverines got a break in this game but they'll be pushing their limits with six games over nine days.
"So the boys need to be ready to go every night!” Tumberg said.
