WADENA – Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale held on for as long as it could before the Wadena-Deer Creek baseball team flexed its lethal offense.
The Wolverines (11-3) dusted the Raiders (6-8) 12-2 in six innings, with nine of them coming in the fifth and sixth. Josh Dykhoff went 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run. The blast drove in two runs as one of seven WDC hits on the day.
Evan Lunde had a multi-hit game for the Wolverines. He tallied a double and a single on Tuesday night. Isaac Hamaan and Peyton Church also doubled.
Connor Davis got the start on the mound and lasted three innings. He gave up one run on three hits and four walks while collecting four strikeouts. Dykhoff and Lunde combined for the final three innings. They allowed one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts.
