OTC golf teams fifth, seventh at Class A state meet after first day

The Otter Tail Central boys' golf team had a fifth place round of 354 while the OTC girls carded a seventh place round of 413 Tuesday at the Class A state tournament on the Pebble Creek course near Becker.

The Otter Tail Central boys’ golf team had a fifth place round of 354 while the OTC girls carded a seventh place round of 413 Tuesday at the Class A state tournament on the Pebble Creek course near Becker.

Tyler Ukkelberg’s 84 led the OTC boys. Ukkelberg finished in a first round tie with Legacy Christian’s Caleb Johnson, Braham’s Quinn Richmond and North Wood’s Spencer Vila.

Rounding out the OTC scoring was Kaleb Thalman (87), Adam Young (91) and Kolby Thalman (92).  Patrick Dilly and Nathan Young shot rounds of 95 and 109 for the Bulldogs.

Mahnomen/Waubun’s Nathaniel Kahlbaugh led the field with a 75.
Leah Weber and Morgan Klintworth brought in the best rounds for the OTC girls’ team. Weber was tied with Windom’ Maitland Vollan and Minneota’s Kyra Gores for 37th place with a 96. Klintworth found herself in a four-way tie for 38th with a round of 97.

The Bulldogs got a 109 from Makenzie Vorderbruggen, a 114 from Paige Weber, a 117 from Jessica Lhotak and a 128 from Greta Nyhus.

Southwest Christian’s Christina Piwnica and Sleepy Eye’s Lauren Laffen were tied for first after posting opening round scores of 79.

Competition wraps up Wednesday.
