The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines have been seeded No. 2 in the Class AA state volleyball tournament and will play Delano at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Section 8AA champion Wolverines, who are making their third straight appearance in the state tournament, take a 30-0 record into the state quarterfinal game after beating Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 25-23, 25-10, 25-13 last Saturday. Delano enters the tournament with a 22-8 record.
The winner of Thursday's match will play No. 3 Marshall or unranked Sauk Centre at 7 p.m. Friday at the Xcel Center. The loser will play in the consolation bracket at 7 p.m. Friday.
In the other Class AA state quarterfinal bracket, No. 1 Hutchinson (25-3) will play Visitation (25-5) and No. 4 Stewartville (25-5) will play Esko (28-1).
The Class AA consolation, third place and championship matches are slated for 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at the Xcel Center.
