Two fourth-quarter touchdowns lifted the West Central Area Knights over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 12-0 last Friday in Barrett.
Squaring off for the first time since last October when the Wolverines defeated the Knights 12-6 to snap a 23-game losing streak, the two Heart O' Lakes Classic rivals both had a hard time moving the ball on a muddy field. The Wolverines were guilty of four turnovers while the Knights committed three.
The Knights gained only 52 yards on 30 rushing plays while the Wolverines picked up just 56 yards on 44 attempts.
The Knights fared a little better through the air although quarterback Colton Blascyk was just 4-for-14 on his passes. Blascyk scored the game's first touchdown on a 16-yard run. He then found Toby Weigand open for a 92-yard touchdown pass to clinch the victory.
The Wolverines were just 2-for-9 through the air and picked up only 36 aerial yards. Both Blascyk and WDC quarterback Colter Pettit were picked off once.
