Wadena-Deer Creek's girls placed ninth and the boys finished 13th Tuesday in the 22-team Bagley/Fosston Invitational.
Hannah Toedter set the pace for the WDC girls with a 13th place finish of 16:47.64. Seventh-grader Emma Schmitz moved up to the varsity and placed 34th with a 17:41.19. Mary McGrane placed 38th with a 17:58.64. Lauren Girard finished 57th in the field of 112 runners with a time of 18:45.11. Bailee Schissel ran a 20:07.39 for 90th.
Lydia Lutz of Park Rapids claimed top honors with a 15:37.28. Staples-Motley's Kaytlin Roth was second with a 15:46.14. The Panthers edged Staples-Motley for first place 93-95. The Wolverines had 214 points.
Neil Janson's 18:34.44 time gave the WDC sophomore 29th place in a field of 127 runners. Fellow sophomore Bryon Shuldt of Nevis ran a strong 16:40.07 for first. Gunner Johnson of Staples-Motley was second with a time of 17:09.52.
WDC's Shane Motschenbacher finished 54th with a 19:29.58 while Zach Bernu placed 81st with a 20:06.74, Joey Pate took 101st with a 2:18.75, Forrest McQuiston took 106th with a 21:41.56 and Chris Steward placed 113th with a 22:57.37.

The Bemidji Lumberjacks won the boys' varsity race with 45 points. The Wolverines came up with a score of 322.
Brody Wangsness was a 38th place finisher in the junior high meet.
