Geiser tosses shutout against Millers

Dustin Geiser fired a three-hitter and Kyle Dykhoff went 4-for-5 Wednesday night as the Bluffton Braves handed New York Mills a 10-0 loss in eight innings in a Hi-10 League playoff game.

Dustin Geiser fired a three-hitter and Kyle Dykhoff went 4-for-5 Wednesday night as the Bluffton Braves handed New York Mills a 10-0 loss in eight innings in a Hi-10 League playoff game.

Geiser struck out seven and walked only two in his eight innings of work. The Millers were able to get a runner to third just once.

Dykhoff came up with two doubles as he drove in two runs. Cody Geiser went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Josh Sweere was also 2-for-3 at the plate and scored twice. Dustin Geiser helped his own cause by going 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs.

Ted Rohr doubled for the Millers while Jeff Hamann and Drew Schultz both singled.

The Braves were set to play the winner of the Detroit Lakes-Dent game in the second round.

Fergus Falls 15, Bluffton 2

Casey Bovkoon and Mic Johnson hit round-trippers Sunday as the Fergus Falls Hurricanes trounced Bluffton 15-2 in a seven-inning game at M State-Fergus Falls.

Terry Geiser limited the amount of pitching the Hurricanes saw by throwing Cody Geiser, Kyle Mursu and Kyle Dykhoff. The Hurricanes responded with a 16-hit effort that saw them scoring in every inning they went to the plate. The Hurricanes really broke the game open in the fifth when they pushed six runs across.

"One error led to six runs," Geiser said.

Bovkoon went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs and three RBIs. Johnson jacked a solo shot, scored twice and drove in two runs. Derek Hansen drove in three runs, scored twice, stolen three bases and went 3-for-5 at the plate.

The Hurricanes threw ace Casey Kowalski for four innings. Kowalski walked three and fanned five without giving up an earned run. Nick Johnson came on for the final two frames.

Kyle Geiser had a double and a sacrifice fly for the Braves. Dustin Geiser collected a pair of singles.

The Braves ended the regular season with a record of 11-7.

Cody Geiser spun a four-hitter Friday as they Braves took Hi-10 foe Detroit Lakes in an early evening game at Bluffton.

Geiser fanned five in his seven innings of work and was credited with having a good change-up.

"When he's on, he gets a lot of groundouts," Bluffton skipper Terry Geiser said.

Cody Geiser was credited with a solid night of defensive work at short.

Kyle Geiser came up with a big two-run single for the Braves. Jake Seelhammer doubled and singled. Kevin Tumberg launched a pair of singles.
