Flyers shut down Wolverines

The Little Falls Flyers broke open a 3-0 game with a four goal third period as they handed the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines a 7-0 defeat in boys hockey on Dec. 6 in Little Falls.

The Little Falls Flyers broke open a 3-0 game with a four goal third period as they handed the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines a 7-0 defeat in boys hockey on Dec. 6 in Little Falls.

Nicholas Stevens tallied a pair of goals, while Gabe Hirsch, Matt Filippi, Mason Doble, Devon Young and Ryan Buckallew added single goals in the win.

Little Falls scored one short-handed goal, a power play goal and killed off four Wadena-DC power plays.

Little Falls’ goalie Dane Couture finished with nine saves on nine shots in the shutout victory. Wadena-DC’s Josh Dykhoff kicked aside 38 of the 45 shots in the loss.

The Wolverines hope to erase the memories from the loss when they return to the pond with a 7 p.m. tilt against Lake of the Woods at the Wadena Ice Arena.
