Flyers, Bearcats, Panthers roll past WDC skaters

Sean Lavine iced two goals Tuesday night as the Bagley/Fosston Flyers notched a 6-2 victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines at Albert Kaiser Arena.

Sean Lavine iced two goals Tuesday night as the Bagley/Fosston Flyers notched a 6-2 victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines at Albert Kaiser Arena.

The two clubs skated to a 1-1 tie in the first period with Lavine scoring for the Flyers and David Najjar finding the net for WDC.

The Flyers began to inch ahead in the second period as Cole Gubrud and Torrey Swenson iced goals for a 3-1 lead. Mike Paavola brought the Wolverines within one at the 9:08 mark. Blaine Cooper earned an assist on the play.

Bagley/Fosston goalie Grant Cardinal shut the Wolverines down the rest of the way and finished the game with 26 saves.

Tyler Goden and Jesse Dukek joined Lavine in pushing shots past WDC goalie Wesley Janson, who kicked out 27 of the 33 shots he faced.

The Bearcats turned Nick Kasprowicz loose on the Wolverines Saturday afternoon and the 5-6 sophomore recorded a hat trick in sparking a six-goal first period.

The Bearcats were 4-of-7 on power play opportunities.

Bridger Pettit iced both of WDC's goals in the first period. Pettit scored on the power play at the 8:13 mark of the first period and gave WDC an early 2-1 lead when he scored at 11:04 off assists from Mason Freeman and Trenton Wollenburg.

The Wolverines were 1-of-7 on the power play.

The Panthers answered Jake Krause's first period power play goal with eight of their own Thursday in a Mid-State Conference match at the Wadena Ice Arena.

Ian Johnson scored a hat trick for the Panthers while Cory Odland and Frank Moren iced two goals apiece.

The Panthers held a 36-14 edge in shots on goal.
