The top-ranked Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers carved themselves a spot in the upcoming Region 16C playoffs over the weekend with victories over Detroit Lakes and Bertha.
Jordan Wohlwend spun a five-hitter Friday as the Shockers stopped Detroit Lakes 10-0 in eight innings.
"It's good to prove why we are No. 1," Wadena-Deer Creek manager Randy Jahnke said.
The top three teams coming out of the Hi-10 playoffs are seeded into the Region 16C tournament.
Jayme George paced the Shockers with three hits while Casey Johnson reached three times on walks.

A suicide squeeze in the bottom of the ninth worked despite a missed sign as the Shockers cemented themselves into the region tournament Sunday with a 5-4 victory over Bertha.
Seth Hamann was ordered to put down a bunt with J.J. Truax on third but as Truax charged the plate, Hamann swung away. Hamman made good contact and drove the ball down the third base line allowing Truax to score easily.
Travis George held the Blazers at bay for five innings. George shook off a three-run rally by Bertha in the sixth.
Truax collected a pair of hits in the victory.
The Shockers will take a 16-12 record into Saturday's 1:30 p.m. championship game in Deer Creek with either Bluffton, Bertha or Detroit Lakes.
The Hi-10 League champ faces the Lake and Pine South wild card Friday, Aug. 7, in an 8 p.m. game at New York Mills.
