The New York Mills Eagles pounded out 18 hits and scored nine runs with two down Monday in a 13-8 victory over Wadena-Deer Creek.

"I have to give the Mills hitters credit, they put the ball in play," WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff said.

Mike Baune went 4-for-5 and scored three times for the Eagles. Tanner Wegscheid went 3-for-5, scored twice and drove in two runs.

Ryan Nelson led WDC at the plate with three hits in four trips. Nelson doubled, tripled and drove in three runs. Josh Sweere homered for the Wolverines and went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs.

Ryan Redfield started on the hill for WDC but gave way to Matt Hagen in the fifth.

The Wolverines are now 4-12 heading into a home game Thursday with Frazee.

The Lakers handed the Wolverines a pair of Mid-State Conference setbacks Friday by putting together 23 hits.

Brandon Johnson, who hit two home runs in the doubleheader, paced the Lakers in Game 1 with three hits, two runs and four RBIs. Reed Oistad went 4-for-4 with three doubles and scored four times.

The Wolverines were held scoreless until the seventh when they erupted for four runs. Nelson doubled and drove in two runs. Gannon George went 1-for-2 and collected two RBIs.

Colter Pettit and Matt Hagen shared the pitching for WDC with Pettit taking the loss. Alex Guetter picked up the win.

Johnson and Max Knoll each collected two hits, two runs and two RBIs as the Lakers gained the sweep. The Wolverines found themselves trailing 6-0 after two innings on the cold and blustery day.

Dean Harrison went 3-for-3 for the Wolverines while Kevin Tumberg went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Tumberg fanned five in suffering the mound loss. Nick Polejewski was the winner with relief help in the fifth from Oistad.

The Cowboys erupted for eight runs in the second inning Thursday en route to a nine-run victory over WDC.

Brady Wall homered for the Cowboys who also took advantage of four Wolverine errors.

Colter Pettit led the Wolverines with two hits and two RBIs. Kevin Tumberg and Tyler Wohlwend also collected two hits apiece.

Cody Redfield was hung with the loss while David Bergquist notched the win.
