Card, Korfe carry Raiders in 6-1 win

Dillon Card worked six strong innings and Ethan Korfe went 2-for-4 with four RBIs Thursday as Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale topped Wadena-Deer Creek 6-1 at Anderson Park in Verndale.

Dillon Card worked six strong innings and Ethan Korfe went 2-for-4 with four RBIs Thursday as Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale topped Wadena-Deer Creek 6-1 at Anderson Park in Verndale.

Card scattered five hits and struck out seven. The BHV senior did not allow a free pass. Preston Riewer came on in the seventh to record the final three outs.

Korfe, Card, Zach Johnson and Jordan Frethem collected doubles in the game, Riewer singled and scored twice. Johnson, Frethem, Mac Schluttner and Mack Jones also scored in the win.

WDC's Jake Dykhoff went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Zac Schertler went 1-for-3 and scored a run.

Dykhoff struck out seven in 5 ⅔ innings of work but issued three walks and seven hits.

The victory gave the Raiders a 15-5 record heading into post-season play.

The Raiders reeled off their third straight win and improved their record to 14-5 Wednesday with a win over Staples-Motley.

Preston Riewer and Ethan Korfe, the top two batters in the lineup, combined for four hits, four runs. Jordan Frethem was credited with two RBIs.

Eric Kossan led the Cardinals with two hits in four trips to the plate and three RBIs. Brady Becker and Jacob Swendsrud both went 2-for-3.

The Raiders used three pitchers with starter Ethan Korfe notching the win. Swendsrud was saddled with the mound loss.

Mac Schluttner and Preston Riewer combined for a four-hitter Tuesday as the Raiders won a Park Region Conference game at Pillager.

Schluttner gave the Raiders four innings of work. He gave up two hits and one walk but did not allow an earned run and struck out two. Riewer surrendered two hits, one run and one walk while fanning three in his three innings on the mound.

Ethan Korfe went 2-for-2, walked twice, scored twice and drove in one run for the Raiders. Dillon Card doubled and drove in a run.

Riewer went 1-for-2, drew two walks and scored twice.

Brian Mason, Raymond Rohl, Joshua Dos and Dillan Eischeid collected hit for the Huskies.

Ryder Hustad was tagged with the loss.
