Preston Kappes fired two touchdown passes and ran for a third as the Breckenridge Cowboys racked up a 28-0 halftime lead last Friday as they cruised to a 48-7 Homecoming victory over Wadena-Deer Creek.
Kappes found Blake Anderson-Wilcox on touchdown passes of nine and 17 yards. He scored the game's first touchdown in the second quarter on a nine-yard run.
The Cowboys also saw Stephen Erlandson knock off a 46-yard run and an 87-yard kickoff return for points. The Breckenridge defense scored once as Erik Hiedeman picked off a pass and returned it 58 yards for six.
"They are a very good football team with a very good offensive line and running backs," WDC head coach Tom VanErp said.
The Wolverines, who have averaged only 6.3 points a game this season, finally put points on the board in the fourth quarter when Logan Meyer crashed in from the one. Meyer was held to only six yards in the game on eight carries. Jacob Wegscheid carried 11 times for 39 yards. Scott Fillhouer grabbed two passes for 35 yards. Jordan Rentz collected two passes for 12 yards.

Jordan Jacobson led WDC defensively with four solo tackles and four assists. Cory Tumberg contributed for solo stops and three assists.
The unbeaten Cowboys are ranked fifth in Class AA and are battling for the top spot in Section 6AA along with Otter Tail Central. OTC is ranked eighth in Class AA.
The Wolverines will wrap up their regular season slate Wednesday at Warroad. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
