Henning earns conference win over Wadena-DC

The Henning Hornets continued their dominance in the Park Region Conference when they cruised to a 90-41 victory over Wadena-Deer Creek in Henning on Jan. 31.

The Hornets had four players finish in double figures with Blake Wallevand pacing the attack with 17 points.

The Hornets built up a big first half lead when they out-scored the Wolverines 53-19 in the first half. The Hornets were 48 percent from the field and hit 37 percent of their 3-point shots in the win.

Isaac Fisher and Sam Fisher finished with 14 points each, while Parker Fraki ended with 12 points for the Hornets.

Payton Rondestvedt finished with 11 points to lead the way for the Wolverines. Turnovers plagued the Wolverines in the loss. They turned it over 31 times, while Henning committed just five turnovers in the loss.

The Hornets improved to 17-0 and 9-0 in the Park Region Conference and moved closer to securing the conference title. Wadena-DC dropped to 6-11 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

The Wolverines have a quick turnaround when they host Pelican Rapids on Feb. 1 at the Wadena-DC High School gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
