Shane Sellner's RBI single in the first inning was just enough for the Waterville Indians when they held off the Bluffton Braves 1-0 on Aug. 24 at Irish Stadium in Maple Lake.

Sam Stier singled, stole second and eventually scored on the RBI single by Sellner in the first, which gave the Indians a 1-0 lead on Bluffton. That was enough for Luke Sellner and Bladyn Bartlet. The duo was able to navigate through the Bluffton lineup, allowing just four hits in the game.

Sellner struck out five in seven innings of work to secure the win. He gave up four hits and walked one batter. Bartlet picked up the save, pitching two scoreless innings. He was able to work around a lead off walk to Justin Dykhoff in the ninth to preserve the lead.

Bluffton's Jake Dykhoff went the distance on the mound for the Braves. The right-handed pitcher allowed one run on six hits. He struck out eight batters and walked two in the loss.

Kyle Dykhoff led the way at the plate for the Braves. He finished with two of the team's four hits. Tom Tellers and Kyle Tumberg added a hit each in the game.

The Braves finished the 2019 season with a 16-4 record overall and captured the Region 14C Championship for the first time in its history.

Waterville will now play Fairmont on Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Delano during the Sweet 16 portion of the Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament.
