Wolverines complete season sweep of OTC

Fresh off a Jake Dykhoff complete-game shutout of Pequot Lakes, it was Justin Dykhoff’s turn for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines. Justin turned in a complete-game, helping the Wolverines to a 7-2 victory over Ottertail Central on May 15 in Battle Lake.

Dykhoff scattered seven hits and allowed a pair of runs. He fanned six and walked one.

Wadena-DC broke open a close game with a five-run fifth inning. Noah Ross and Jake Dykhoff drove in a run during the rally, while Wyatt Hamann drove in two with a double. Hamann finished with two hits and three runs batted in for the Wolverines.

He gave Wadena-DC the first inning lead with a single, which scored Preston Warren, who opened the game with a single.

After OTC tied the game in the first, Jake Dykhoff gave the Wolverines the lead in the third with an an RBI single, scoring Warren, who reached with a one-out walk. Warren reached base four times in the game. He finished with three hits and three runs scored.

Jake Dykhoff finished with three hits and two runs batted in. Ross added a hit and a run batted in and Isaac Witthuhn finished with one hit for the Wolverines.

Daxton Olson took the loss for Ottertail Central. He seven runs on 10 hits and two walks.

The victory improves the Wolverines to 14-2 overall and 12-1 in the Park Region Conference. The Wolverines prepare for a four-game homestand to close out the regular season, beginning on Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. start against Menahga.
