For the third straight time to start the season, the Wadena-Deer Creek volleyball team faced an opponent from Section 8AA. However, this time, the tides were turned on the Wolverines when the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels out-lasted the Wolverines in five, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 25-21 and 15-9 on Sept. 4 in Wadena.

It was the second straight game to go the distance for the Wolverines, but it was the first one the Wolverines ended up on the short-end. The Wolverines dropped the first set, but responded by winning the second and the third. However, they could not close out the visiting Rebels in the fourth and fifth sets.

Maria Watt led the way for DGF with 14 kills. Mariah Iwen finished with 31 set assists. Peyton Wilson had six blocks for the visiting Rebels.

Kennedy Gravelle had 10 kills and nine ace serves in the loss, while Ashley Adams added six kills, 14 digs and 15 set assists. Kylee Hopp finished with four kills for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines move to 2-1 on the season and take on Bertha-Hewitt on Sept. 6 at the Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
