The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines got the last laugh in a back-and-forth affair with Parkers Prairie in game one, winning 7-6. They erased an early deficit in game two, earning an 15-8 win and a doubleheader sweep on May 3.

Casey Volkmann worked her way on base with a bunt single, stole second on a delayed steal and moved to third on a wild pitch. On her break towards third, the throw went into the outfield, allowing Volkmann to score the winning run.

Mackenzie Carsten earned the win in the circle. She allowed six runs on eight hits. She struck out two and walked five batters. Carsten had two hits for the Wolverines at the plate. Courtny Warren, Alex Kahl, Casey Volkmann, Hailey Wiederich and Nevada Schulz had hits for the Wolverines. Kahl drove in a pair of runs, while Volkmann and Schulz drove in a run each. The Wolverines swiped five bases as well.

The Wolverines dug themselves a hole but rallied back. They scored three runs in the second and the third innings, before busting out for a seven-run fourth inning. They added an insurance run in the fifth, securing the 15-8 victory.

Volkmann picked up the win in the circle. She allowed six runs on eight hits and struck out two. Amber Moen pitched the final two innings and allowed two runs with two strikeouts.

Warren and Moen had two hits each in the win.

Volkmann drove in three runs, while Carsten and Warren plated two runs each.

The Wolverines are now 6-3 overall and 5-1 in Park Region Conference play. They are back at home for a pair of games with Sebeka on May 4 at 4 p.m. at the Wadena-DC High School.
