Lately, these dark, cold mornings are making it very difficult to get out of bed. With subzero temperatures, the last thing i want to do in the morning is get up early and make the kids breakfast. The solution? This easy recipe for slow cooker oatmeal. I can put it together the night before and wake up to the delicious smell of warm hearty oatmeal. Enjoy!
Slow Cooker Oatmeal
Makes six servings
• 1 c. steel cut oats
• 3 ½ c. water

• 1 c. apple, peeled and chopped
• ½ c. raisins
• 2 Tbsp. butter
• 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
• 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
• 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Place the steel cut oats, water, apple, raisins, butter, cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla extract into a slow cooker and stir to combine and dissolve the sugar. Cover the cooker, set to low and allow to cook six to seven hours (for firm oats) or eight hours (for softer texture).
