WADENA — The Wadena City Library, together with the University of Minnesota SNAP-Ed Program of Wadena County will offer a small selection of seeds in a free seed library, located near the checkout desk. Seeds requiring a 6-8 week early start inside are currently available through mid-April. Seed allowing direct sow in gardens will be displayed beginning in May.
Those interested can bring in envelopes or small containers to take the amount of seed needed, or simply take the packet home and return unused portions as soon as possible. The community is also encouraged to bring in seed packets to share. Either commercial seed or saved seeds from open pollination are welcome additions, as long as the seed has been stored in a consistently cool, dry location, and properly labeled.
QR codes will be displayed, so information from the University of Minnesota Extension on gardening and seed starting can be accessed.
